Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour
Job Summary: BCDC is seeking a dedicated and passionate Part-Time Youth Worker to support young people aged 11 to 16. You will help to reduce anti-social behaviour and create safer and stronger communities.
You will create a safe, welcoming space where young people can learn, grow, and build positive relationships. This role focuses on delivering engaging activities and offering guidance to help young people navigate social and personal challenges. You will help young people access opportunities that improve their wellbeing, confidence and skills.
Main Duties: Plan and deliver fun, educational group activities like sports, arts, or workshops. Build safe, trusting relationships with young people aged 11 to 16. Listen to personal problems and offer guidance or referrals. Set clear behavioural boundaries, handle challenging situations and follow safeguarding rules. Keep accurate records of engagement, activities, concerns and outcomes. Work alongside schools, families, community organisations and relevant partners.
Key Skills: Good listening and patience. Clear and friendly communication. Ability to work well in a team or alone. Fair, open-minded, and non-judgmental attitude. Reliability and strong personal boundaries. Competent IT skills. Be able to identify and respond appropriately to concerns around anti-social behaviour, vulnerability and risk. Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the health and wellbeing of young people. Knowledge of child protection and health and safety rules. Understanding of local community issues and services.
Experience: Past paid or volunteer experience of community-based youth work or detached youth work. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection and health and safety rules. Willingness to attend training and further your own personal development.
First Aid, Safeguarding and other relevant training will be provided.
