Opportunity Type: Community Resource Assistant including Admin and Reception Duties

Barmulloch Community Development Company is a Registered Charity offering a range of activities for local residents from three Centres in Barmulloch.  Currently in the process of expanding operations, we have a vacancy for a full time Staff member who will be based in the Barmulloch Residents Centre, 54 Quarrywood Road, Barmulloch, G21 3ET.


The job holder will assist with the day to day operations of the Company and ensure our three centres and their facilities are utilised and monitored in an efficient and effective manner. A member of a small core staff, the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the design and development of community activities.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Open and close all premises as required. Ensure security of all premises. Provide reception services and associated administration duties.Arrange Hall Lets, maintain Company Membership list and update information systems. Publicise Company activities via electronic media. Set up halls and equipment as required. Deliver First Aid services and maintain appropriate records. Supervise the safe evacuation of premises at Quarrywood Road in an emergency. Identify potential safety problems and take suitable actions. Offer a drop in service of information and advice. Liaise with suppliers, contractors and deal with deliveries of goods and record as appropriate. Maintain Inventory Lists for all premises. Carry out Community research work as required. Take responsibility for utilisation and control of Computer Suite. Contribute to the delivery of Company activities as outlined in the Barmulloch Community Futures 2016/2021 document. Enhance our excellent customer service delivery by acting in a helpful, pleasant manner. You may be asked to carry out other reasonable duties relevant to the management and operation of the company as required.We are an equal opportunities employer.

This is a salaried position, paid at £8.75 per hour over a 37.5 hour week. Opportunity Type: Part Time Cleaner/Caretaker

Part-time Cleaner/Caretaker – 16 hours per week at living wage


The cleaner/caretaker will be a crucial staff member of the company and will be a trusted keyholder. We are looking for someone who is hardworking, honest, reliable, flexible, dependable and self-motivated who is willing to uphold the ethos of our Charity. You would be working between multi-sites with varied days and times.


You would be working between local multi-sites on varied days and times. You will work in a close relationship with the Centre Coordinator and must be able to take direction. Duties will include vacuuming, dusting, polishing, collecting domestic refuse, sweeping, mopping, litter picking, small maintenance jobs and reporting defects. Experience in health and safety, risk assessments, COSHH and first aid is preferred but not essential as long as you have a willingness to learn. Basic numerical and literacy skills are required for safe measuring of cleaning fluids. You may be asked to carry out other reasonable duties relevant to the management and operation of the company as required. We are an equal opportunities employer.

Opportunity Type: Job Opportunity

Overview: The co-ordinator will be at the very heart of the Centre, responsible for its day-to-day management and development. A dynamic organiser and people leader, the job holder will be responsible for devising and implementing new ideas to serve community needs and to maintain a high level of business performance. The Co-ordinator will be the first line of contact with hall users and will be required to liaise, co-ordinate, administer and manage hall lets in accordance with Company policies, and maintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction. Responsible for the management of Staff and Volunteers, finances and implementing the policy and ethos of the company. This position is for 3 years and further information is available on request. Duties: •Receive and record all bookings for premises •Prepare timetables and staffing rota’s •Review and implement Health and Safety policies and practices to ensure all statutory guidelines and legal obligations are met. This should include overseeing the maintenance of appropriate records, including health and safety, risk assessment, COSHH, manual handling accident reporting, first aid etc. •Assume main key-holder status •Design and maintain an Emergency Action Plan •Create and implement day-to-day operating procedures •Ensure buildings, facilities and equipment are maintained to required standards (e.g safe, clean and in good working order, regular checks are carried out and records maintained) •Carry out simple repairs and liaise with external contractors •Devise and introduce an effective feedback system for users e.g. enquiries, information, bookings, complaints and suggestions. •Supervise IT Learning Centre •Manage Centre Business Plan and amend /update in conjunction with BCDC Development Officer. •In conjunction with Development Officer design an Annual Planned Preventative Maintenance programme and be responsible for implementation as stated •Take responsibility for security of premises •Prepare facilities for hall users, including setting up/down of equipment •Design new activities and programmes for the Centre in conjunction with the Development Officer. •Manage personal work pattern and that of volunteers to meet the needs of Centre activities, bookings and events •Maintain Company Website •Carry out other reasonable duties relevant to the management and operation of the Centre as required by the Development Officer
